The only plausible explanation is that he is superhumanly intelligent. In the world in which Batman lives, that's simply impossible. I really dislike the tendency of Batman writers (and fans) to fetishize Batman-the human who can beat anyone because he's so brilliant and well-prepared. I don't know if this was an attempt at humor, but it came off as unbelievably callous. It opens with Catwoman shooting a foundering horse (because they're travelling over 12 hours in a desert), and then she and Batman exchanging endearments. I'm not sure what kind of tone King was trying to strike in the first part. But rules are for people other than Batman and Catwoman, so off they go. The first arc, The Rules of Engagement, find Batman and Catwoman journeying to Khadym, a fictional haven for all sorts of bad people, and one that no one may enter, per the rules created by Batman and the Justice League. I'm finding myself increasingly annoyed by certain aspects of King's writing, even as I really like other parts. Is this something she needs to do to maintain her sense of self or independence, because she's unwilling to deny herself things she can't afford, or just so that she doesn't get bored? Whatever the reasoning, it should create conflict in the relationship.more After all, he doesn't condone her stealing. Although I doubt it will happen, I'm interested if King ever plays out her choice and its effect on her relationship with Batman. Selina chooses to rob a bridal store, but I felt that she was cutting it pretty close in her timing and probably should have started at least 30 minutes earlier.

The final story, about Selina selecting her wedding gown even as her previous interactions with Batman over the years are recalled (by either her or the omniscient narrator-it isn't clear), was fine. Admittedly, I'm not a big Ivy fan and not familiar with her recent portrayal, but hasn't she always wanted to save the world and heal it from what she considered humanity's abuse (or at least hasn't that been her motivation more than once in the past)? So, why does she need to feel guilty about something in order to take the actions she does? Ivy is supposedly consumed by guilt for something she did years before, so she wants to take over the world to save it. What I liked about 'Everyone Loves Ivy' was Selina's great monologue about planning their wedding in an Ivy-created world. I didn't care for the first story, as it was predictable from the start and didn't make any sense.
